§ 90 and 91. Mr. D. Jonesasked the Minister of Education (1) whether he is aware that the West Hartlepool Education Authority have, within recent months, advertised three times unsuccessfully for the services of a speech therapist without response; and what special steps he is prepared to take to assist this authority to secure the services of a suitable speech therapist;
(2) what steps he is taking to increase the supply of speech therapists available for engagement by local education authorities needing their services.
Mr. G. LloydI have not been approached by the West Hartlepool Local Education Authority. My advice would be that they should approach the training centres direct in addition to advertising. I am at present considering, in consultation with my right hon. and learned Friend the Minister of Health, whether any special measures are necessary to meet the present shortage of speech therapists.
