HC Deb 17 November 1958 vol 595 c108W
Commander Pursey

asked the Minister of Labour (1) the total number of employees in the Hull area who will be affected by the closing of the Hull and Barnsley Railway, the number at Spring-head Depot, and the number who will have to seek employment elsewhere;

(2) what steps are to be taken to provide alternative employment for the employees of the British Transport Commission who are rendered redundant by the closing of the Hull and Barnsley Railway.

Mr. Iain Macleod

I understand that no scheme for closing the line has been approved by the British Transport Commisson or submitted to the Area Transport Users Consultative Committee and it is therefore not possible to say at present how employment may be affected. If necessary the agreements between the Commission and the Trade Unions covering redundancy will be applied.
