HC Deb 12 November 1958 vol 595 cc36-7W
59. Mr. Sorensen

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what is the present position of the International Commission for Supervision and Control in Vietnam; and what improvement there is in respect of acceptance of, and compliance with, the decisions of the Commission by the parties involved.

Mr. Selwyn Lloyd

The International Commission for Supervision and Control in Vietnam continues to play a useful role in maintaining the peace in Vietnam. The Commission has issued reports from time to time on its position and on the degree of co-operation with its decisions by the parties involved.

As regards recent improvements in the position, I would refer the hon. Gentleman to the Eighth Interim Report, covering the period from the 1st of May, 1957, to the 30th of April, 1958. This was published last August as Command Paper No. 509.
