HC Deb 12 November 1958 vol 595 c39W
74. Mr. de Freitas

asked the Minister of Labour what are the most recent figures on unemployment and short-time working in Lincoln and Lincolnshire, respectively; and whether he will make a statement on the steps being taken to find work for those unemployed.

Mr. Iain Macleod

On 13th October, 1958, there were 540 persons registered as wholly unemployed at the Lincoln Employment Exchange and 84 as temporarily stopped. For the rest of the County of Lincolnshire the figures were 4,065 and 433, respectively. My local officers are giving unemployed workers all the assistance possible by submitting them to vacancies notified by employers.
