§ Mr. Biggs-Davisonasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what military and economic assistance has been, and is 70W to be, given by the United Kingdom to the Sudan.
§ Mr. Ian HarveyOur military assistance to the Sudan is described in the reply which I gave to the hon. Member for Windsor (Sir C. Mott-Radclyffe) on 31st October.
The gift of arms will of course help the Sudanese economy considerably by making possible the diversion to other objects of funds which would otherwise have had to be spent on defence. But Her Majesty's Government have not been asked for, nor have they offered, any direct economic assistance.
