HC Deb 27 March 1958 vol 585 c63W
66. Mr. Biggs-Davison

asked the President of the Board of Trade (1) what consideration he has given to the imposition of anti-dumping duties on Swedish and Finnish butter;

(2) whether Her Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom will support Her Majesty's Government in New Zealand in their efforts, through the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade, or otherwise, to stop, or prevent, the dumping of foreign butter.

Sir D. Eccles

I am at present considering the evidence on applications for the imposition of anti-dumping or countervailing duties on imports of butter from Sweden, Finland, the Irish Republic and Austria. I am fully conscious of the importance attached to this matter in New Zealand, and the New Zealand Government know that I am dealing with it as rapidly as a thorough examination of the facts permits.
