§ Captain Kerbyasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty to what extent there has been a reduction in the number of anti-submarine vessels in commission, or engaged on trials and 59W training, since the explanatory statement on this year's Navy Estimates is not clear on this point.
§ Mr. R. AllanMost vessels have some anti-submarine capability, but I presume the Question relates to anti-submarine frigates. By comparison with 1957–58 there is, as shown in the Explanatory Statement on the Navy Estimates 195859, an increase of three anti-submarine frigates with the operational fleet and a reduction of two on trials and training, making a net increase of one anti-submarine frigate in commission.
