§ 96. Mr. Stonehouseasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what is the number of voters in each community registered for the forthcoming elections in Tanganyika.
§ Mr. ProfumoIn the five constituencies where elections are to be held this year 28,629 voters have been registered. In the other five, where elections are due in 1959, 8,204 voters have so far been registered. As the elections are on a common 125W roll, the registration form makes no provision for recording the race of an applicant. The most that can be said is that Africans greatly outnumber all other communities together.
