HC Deb 04 March 1958 vol 583 c118W
80. Mr. Langford-Holt

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs whether he will take steps to end the discrimination which occurs under present planning legislation which imposes stricter limits on the size of posters which may be displayed outside church premises than those imposed on other commercial premises; and whether he will introduce amending legislation so that churches shall have the same rights as other persons.

Mr. Bevins

My right hon. Friend has no reason to think that the church authorities are dissatisfied with the limits of size placed on advertisements which may be displayed on church premises without express consent. There are no limits of size on posters which may be displayed with the express consent of the local planning authority.
