§ Mr. Iain MacleodStatistics of employment in local areas are obtained in respect of the end of May only in each year. At end-May, 1956, the estimated total number of male employees in employment in the bricks and fireclay goods industry in North Staffordshire was 3,600. The corresponding figure for end-May, 1957, was 3,300.
