§ Mr. John HareIn 1955, 1956 and 1957 the numbers of grey squirrel tails for which payment was made were 145,000, 218,000 and 351,000 respectively. The rate in 1956 and 1957 was 2s. per tail, but in 1955 was only 1s. In spite of the above figures the squirrel population showed a considerable increase in 1957.
