§ 4. Mr. Langford-Holtasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food why Shropshire has been included in the Swine Fever Order recently issued, in view of the fact that there are only eleven cases in the county; when he expects the Order will be withdrawn; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. John HareAlthough the number of outbreaks of swine fever confirmed in Shropshire since the beginning of May is not particularly large, nine cases that occurred outside the county were traced to movements of pigs from markets within it. Infected Area Orders are bound to cause inconvenience and I can assure my hon. Friend that the restrictions in this case will be withdrawn as soon as it seems safe to do so, bearing in mind the long incubation period of the disease.
