§ 58. Captain Kerbyasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will arrange for an increase in the quantity of New Zealand meat imported into the United Kingdom to compensate for the loss to New Zealand which will be incurred by the recent decision on butter.
§ Mr. John HareI am glad to say that we have already guaranteed unrestricted entry for New Zealand meat until 1967. New Zealand can therefore send us all they have available. As my right hon. Friend the President of the Board of Trade made clear on 20th May, we consider that our action on butter will be of substantial assistance to New Zealand.
