Nobleasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what progress he has made with his examination of the pro- 206W posals for conservation and control of deer submitted in a joint report by the interested organisations in Scotland; and when he intends to introduce legislation to give effect to the proposals.
§ Mr. MaclayThe Government approve in prinicple the proposals in the joint report for legislation making provisions for the prevention of poaching of deer, introducing close seasons for red deer and setting up a commission with powers to further the conservation and control of red deer. Legislation will be introduced when Parliamentary time permits.
