Mr. Hurdasked the President of the Board of Trade to what extent the quota of 1,500,000 cwt. of apple imports from Western Europe and North America fixed for the 12 months ending June, 1959, is expected to result in a decrease in imports, particularly in the months when the bulk of the home apple crop is marketed.
§ Sir D. EcclesNone. The quota is intended to be equivalent to the value quotas which it replaces. One of the objects of the change is to prevent under-invoicing.
