HC Deb 16 July 1958 vol 591 cc91-2W
Sir I. Fraser

asked the Postmaster-General if he is aware that the Home Service programme and the television programmes, especially the British Broadcasting Corporation's television programme, are variable and weak in Morecambe and Lonsdale; and if he can take steps to secure an improvement.

Mr. K. Thompson

I am aware of the reception difficulties in this area. The British Broadcasting Corporation however, informs me that the three sound programmes should be satisfactorily received on V.H.F. in most parts if good sets and aerials are used.

Television should generally be satisfactory in Morecambe, though variable in other parts of the constituency mainly due to radio signals being impeded by high ground. In addition the British Broadcasting Corporation service is being interfered with due to exceptional atmospheric conditions. These will pass.
