§ Mr. Hamiltonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what steps he intends to take to bring the individual grants to students in Scotland on to a level of parity with those in England.
§ Mr. MaclayThe Education Authority Bursaries (Scotland) (Amendment No. 1) Provisional Regulations, 1958, which are being laid before Parliament today, will ensure that grants continue to be on generally similar levels in Scotland and in England. As was announced on 25th June, my right hon. Friend the Minister of Education and I have set up a Committee to consider all aspects of grants to students taking courses of higher education in both countries.
