NichollsIn answer to the first part of the Question, I have nothing to add to the information contained in the report on "Scientific and Engineering Manpower in Great Britain" published in October, 1956. However, a further survey of scientists and engineers will be undertaken at the end of this year.
As regards the second part of the Question, the Government have announced plans for the expansion of universities and technical colleges with a view to increasing the output of scientists and engineers to meet the targets set by the Committee on Scientific Manpower.
