§ 113. Mr. de Freitasasked the Attorney-General whether he will consider the setting up of machinery for reform of the law as suggested in the document entitled "Speed-Up Law Reform," which has been forwarded to him by the hon. Member for Lincoln.
§ The Attorney-GeneralMy noble Friend the Lord Chancellor, who has a general responsibility for the reform of the civil law, does not consider that there is any need for the appointment of another Minister for this purpose, nor does he see any advantage in setting up a standing council on law reform in addition to the existing Law Reform Committee. The possibility of appointing a criminal law revision committee was already engaging the attention of my right hon. Friend the Home Secretary before he received the document which the hon. Member sent him.
