§ Mr. Owenasked the Secretary of State 1647 for the Colonies in which areas of the Northern Province of Nyasaland there are coffee co-operative societies; and what 1780 steps are being taken by the Government 1510 of Nyasaland to develop and encourage similar societies in other areas.
§ Mr. Lennox-BoydThere are two cooperative societies of coffee producers in the Northern Province of Nyasaland, one in Rumpi and one in Karonga. The Agricultural and Co-operative Departments of the Nyasaland Government are working closely together in pursuance of the Government's policy to encourage, where practicable, the expansion of coffee-growing in the Northern Province and also the introduction of the crop in the Central Province, where trials will be held during the coming season.
