§ Sir D. EcclesThe index of wholesale prices of manufactured goods other than foodstuffs and fuels was 2 per cent. higher in December than in April, 1957. During this period the price index of basic materials (other than fuels and foodstuffs) used by manufacturing industry fell by 10 per cent., while the price of fuel used rose 6 per cent.
