asked the Under-Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations what financial assistance has already been given to the British Trans-Antarctic Expedition; and what assistance he now proposes to give.

Her Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom have made a cash grant of£100,000 to the Expedition. In addition, the value of free assistance which will continue to be given by the three Services is estimated at approximately£86,000.
