§ 59. Mr. Mitchisonasked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that the approaching retirement of the area matron of the Kettering General Hospital raises staffing problems of some urgency; and when he expects to reach a decision on the scheme for re-organisation of nursing administration submitted by the Kettering and District Hospital Management Committee to the Oxford Regional Board and by the Regional Board to him.
§ Mr. Walker-SmithYes, I have been asked to approve a salary in excess of the agreed Whitley Council rate for one of the posts of matron under the scheme of re-organisation, which otherwise does not require my approval. One of my officers will shortly visit the hospitals concerned to assess the responsibilities of the post in question.
