§ Mr. McLeavyasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether he is aware that under the Road Traffic Act, 1956, Section 48, a motor driving licence is now issued for three years instead of, as previously, for one year, and that public service vehicle drivers who are attaining the retirement age when a renewal of the driving licence is due are compelled to pay a renewal fee of 15s. 138W when their retirement from employment may, at the most, be within 12 months; and whether he will consider whether in such cases a pro rata payment can be made for the unexpired portion of the licence.
§ Mr. WatkinsonThe hon. Member's suggestion would require legislation; I will review the matter when a suitable opportunity offers.
