§ 52. Mr. Gowerasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs to what extent, in the course of his appeal to all local authorities to limit their expenditure in accordance with Government financial policy, he has asked the Liverpol Corporation to limit their project affecting Treweryn in North Wales.
§ Mr. H. BrookeMy recent circular asked that all local authorities, in considering their budgets for 1958–59, should ensure that all possible economies were achieved. Parliament last year accepted that there was a genuine and urgent need for supplying more water for Liverpool and granted the Corporation powers to construct, and to borrow money for, the Tryweryn scheme. It is now for the Corporation to consider its plans in the light of my appeal.
