HC Deb 11 February 1958 vol 582 c36W
Mr. Patrick Maitland

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is aware that whereas in England and Wales a local government elector has the right to inspect the minutes of the full proceedings of a local authority on payment of 1s., this right does not exist in Scotland except in the case of the sub-committees of education, welfare, planning and health; and whether he will consider bringing the Scottish position in this respect into line with that of England and Wales.

Mr. Maclay

My noble Friend the Minister of State discussed this matter with the Scottish local authority associations on 7th February. The discussions are proceeding.
