§ 108. Mr. M. Clark Hutchisonasked the President of the Board of Trade if his attention has been drawn to the fact that Great Britain spent more than £20 million during 1957 upon wheat from the United States of America; and what steps he proposes to take to divert all or part of such purchase to wheat from Canada.
§ Mr. Vaughan MorganThe bulk of our North American imports of wheat come from Canada. It was the aim of the Government in decontrolling wheat that we should have the benefit of a competitive market and these imports reflect the trade's judgment on the quantities of the different varieties needed for the British market.
