§ 6 and 7. Mr. Lewisasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) whether he will make a statement on the Government's policy regarding Government expenditure; to what extent it is the policy of the Government to restrict Government expenditure in the financial year 1958–59, to the same level as that for the current financial year;
(2) what recent action the Treasury have taken to restrict Government spending, so as to ensure that in the financial year 1958–59, Government expenditure will not exceed that for the current financial year.
