HC Deb 04 February 1958 vol 581 cc147-8W
66. Mr. Lewis

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs whether he is aware of the concern felt by housing authorities at his recent circular asking that in the review of housing priorities special thought should be given to those families who will be evicted under the Rent Act, 1957; and whether he is further aware that in areas such as West Ham, people who have been bombed out of their homes on more than one occasion, have, in many instances, been on the housing waiting list for over fifteen years and now find that they are liable to be kept waiting for many more years; and whether he will withdraw this circular.

Mr. H. Brooke

Circular 55/57, to which the hon. Member presumably refers, suggested various ways in which local authorities could help old people. I refuse to withdraw such a circular.
