Mr. Goodhart

asked the Minister of Supply (1) how many blankets have been sold by his Department during the past two years, to the latest convenient date; and how much money was obtained;

(2) how many blankets have been bought by his Department during the past two years, to the latest convenient date; and how much has been paid for them.

During the two years ending on 31st December, 1957, the Ministry of Supply sold, for £66,826, 119,514 blankets which were no longer serviceable and 15,863 part-worn Army hospital blankets which were surplus to requirements. During the same period it bought for Service and other Departments, 332,000 new blankets at a cost of £473,000. No Army hospital blankets were bought.
