96. Mr. Gower

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs if he will now announce the names of the members of the Local Government Commission for Wales.

Mr. Brooke

Her Majesty has been pleased to approve that the following persons be appointed members of the Local Government Commission for Wales:—

  • Sir Guildhaume Myrddin-Evans, K.C.M.G., C.B. (Chairman).
  • Sir Emrys Evans, M.A., B.Litt. (Deputy-Chairman).
  • Professor Charles Edward Gittins, M.A.
  • William Jones, Esq., O.B.E.
  • Mrs. Janet Morgan.
  • Sir Emrys Evans and Mr. William Jones are Welsh-speaking.

All the members will be appointed in a part-time capacity. The warrant of appointment, which will be for two years but may be renewed for a further period, will be issued shortly.

The Act will permit the appointment of two further members.
