Mr. Awberyasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what protests he has received from the Law Department of the University of Malaya, the Singapore lawyers and other bodies, against the appointment of a British Chief Justice; and, in view of the possibility of the establishment of an early system of self-govermnent, if he will give serious consideration to these protests.
