§ 138. Mr. Bevanasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will make a statement, with particular reference to Berlin, on the meeting of the Foreign Ministers lately concluded in Paris.
§ Mr. ProfumoThe right hon. Gentleman will have seen from the Communiqué issued on 14th December that the four Foreign Ministers met on that day in Paris to discuss developments in the Berlin situation. They reaffirmed the determination of their Governments to maintain their position and their rights with respect to Berlin, including the right of free access. It was agreed that the four Foreign Ministers would consult with their allies in the North Atlantic Council before proceeding to formulate replies to the Soviet Government's Note of 27th November. The discussions in the North Atlantic Council are still proceeding.
