Notes 1. S = Summer. W Winter. Y Yearly. 2. Salford No. 2 and Manchester No. 9 measurement stations are the only ones in the area where daily measurements of smoke and sulphur dioxide are taken. Salford No. 2 is in Regent Road, 1 mile S.S.E. of the city centre, in a residential, commercial and manufacturing district. Manchester No. 9 is at Rusholme, Whitworth House, 1¾miles S.S.E. of the city centre. The surrrounding district is residential.
