§ 65. Captain Orrasked the Under- Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations, in view of the recent discussions on this matter between Her Majesty's Ambassador and the Government of Eire, whether he has yet received any information regarding the recent escape of the Irish Republican Army prisoners from the Curragh Internment Camp.
§ Mr. AlportI have been informed by Her Majesty's Ambassador that a statement was issued by the Irish Republican Government Information Bureau on 2nd December to the effect that an attempted mass break out had taken place that afternoon at the Curragh Internment Camp. Some 60 detainees were involved; 16 of these escaped. Two are since understood to have been recaptured.
