asked the Secretary of State for War what political background instruction is given to British troops on being posted to Cyprus.

Before going to Cyprus units are addressed by officers who know the island. A pamphlet produced jointly by the Government of Cyprus and the local Service authorities is issued to all ranks. This pamphlet is now under revision and a new edition will shortly be produced.
