HC Deb 10 December 1958 vol 597 cc80-1W
129. Sir A. V. Harvey

asked the Minister of Labour how many Royal Air Force officers and non-commissioned officers who have been prematurely retired have been placed in civilian posts.

Mr. Iain Macleod

Full information is riot available regarding the numbers of ex-Royal Air Force officers and non-commissioned officers placed in employment since premature retirements began. On 30th September, 1958, the date of the last quarterly analysis, of 961 officers and 824 non-commissioned officers who had been prematurely retired by that date there were 157 officers and 38 non-commissioned officers registered with my Department as unemployed. Of these, 59 officers and 26 non-commissioned officers had been unemployed for less than six weeks.
