HC Deb 10 December 1958 vol 597 c91W
Dr. D. Johnson

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department in how many of the public houses of the Carlisle and District State Management Scheme is the optic measure used for measuring gin, whisky and rum, and in how many are these spirits measured by hand measurement; and to what extent optic measures are in use for the measurement of spirits when the catering is done for outside functions.

Mr. R. A. Butler

Optic measures are used in 23 of the Scheme's public houses and hotels. In the remaining 134 public houses and hotels directly managed by the Scheme, and at all outside functions, spirits are measured by hand measurement.
