HC Deb 10 December 1958 vol 597 c75W
98. Mr. Ronald Bell

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation how many collisions in the air involving a civil aeroplane have taken place in the United Kingdom in each of the last five years, to the last convenient date.

Mr. Watkinson

During the five years ending on 30th November, 1958, there were four such accidents; two in 1956 and two in 1958. These collisions did not involve public transport aircraft.

99. Mr. Ronald Bell

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether he will state the number of occasions during the last three years in which a British civil aircraft has been involved in a collision in the air outside the United Kingdom.

Mr. Watkinson

One only. This was the unfortunate accident near Nettuno in Italy on the 22nd October, 1958, in which a B.E.A. Viscount and an Italian military aircraft collided.
