HC Deb 04 December 1958 vol 596 c159W
33. Mr. Edward Evans

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement on the proposed new prison to be established near Blundeston in North Suffolk; what representations he has received from local residents; and what endeavours he has made to ascertain the reactions of persons in the neighbourhood.

Mr. Renton

In accordance with the usual practice the Prison Commissioners have notified the local authorities concerned of this proposal, which has received full publicity locally. My right hon. Friend is aware of certain objections by local residents, but he understands that the planning authority has not yet expressed a final view on the proposal.
