HC Deb 04 December 1958 vol 596 cc165-6W
76. Sir P. Agnew

asked the Minister of Education if he is aware of the future shortage of grammar school places for children living in the Malvern district; and whether, in view of the concern felt locally lest any extra accommodation needed be built outside the district instead of within it, he will ask the local education authority to discuss with him the possibility of providing a grammar school at Malvern, so as to avoid unnecessary daily travelling for the future additional numbers of children involved.

Mr. Geoffrey Lloyd

The local education authority for the City of Worcester, in agreement with the authority for the county, has already given public notice of its intention to build a new girls' grammar school large enough to take in girls from Malvern. No objections were received to this proposal and I see no sufficient reason to withhold my approval. It is also proposed that most boys from Malvern should continue to attend grammar schools in Worcester.
