HL Deb 29 April 1958 vol 208 c1118WA
THE EARL OF MACCLESFIELD

asked Her Majesty's Government whether, in view of the Government statement in the debate on Oxford roads on February 13, 1957, they can say when authority will be given to proceed with the construction of the Oxford Southern By-pass and Sandford Link Roads.

LORD MANCROFT

A draft Order to establish the line of these roads was published in September, 1956, but representations were received from the Oxford City Council that a connecting link should be made between the new road and A.34. This, though desirable, presents important design problems which have been under consideration with the Oxfordshire County Council. I hope that they will shortly be resolved and the line of the road fixed, but I cannot say at present when constructional work will start.

House adjourned at twenty-eight minutes past four o'clock.
