Mr. Hector Hughesasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, in view of the statement made to the Conference on the Law of the Sea by the legal adviser to the Foreign Office concerning the action likely to be taken by the major maritime Powers in the event of the adoption of a 12-mile limit, if he will make an ex parte statement to the Conference defining the areas in which Her Majesty's Government is prepared to accord legal recognition of fishing rights to British and foreign fishermen, respectively.
