asked the Secretary of State for War how many British and Gurkha troops are engaged in the war in the Federation of Malaya; and how many British battalions and Gurkha battalions are at present engaged in this war.

As stated in my right hon. Friend's Memorandum on the Army Estimates, there is one Gurkha Division and one Commonwealth Brigade Group. It would not be in the public interest to give more information.
