§ 40. Mr. J. Howardasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs if he will take steps to ensure that all local authorities provide adequate facilities to enable the Press to report the proceedings of committees, particularly those cases where the statutory council meeting is used only for the formal ratification of decisions already made and where committees have delegated powers to make decisions the reasons for which do not come to the knowledge of the public.
§ Mr. H. BrookeMy Department is in touch with the local authority associations on this subject; and I hope that in the result all authorities will arrange—as most already do—to provide adequate facilities for Press reporting of their decisions and the reasons why they have been arrived at.
