§ 19 and 20. Mr. McInnesasked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) the number of overspill agreements which have been submitted to him by Scottish local authorities under the Housing and Town Development (Scotland) Act, 1957;
(2) if, in view of the reluctance of Scottish local authorities to enter into overspill agreements, he will consider designating another New Town to deal with Glasgow's overspill problem.
§ Mr. J. N. BrowneNegotiations are in progress, or about to start, between Glasgow Corporation and a number of local authorities who have intimated their willingness to consider taking Glasgow overspill. None of the negotiations has yet reached the stage of a formal overspill agreement, nor could this have been expected. My right hon. Friend is afraid that he cannot undertake to designate another New Town in present circumstances.
