asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether the Government of Aden have now permitted the newspaper Al Ettihad to be published; and what decision has been reached about Al Ba'ath.

There have been two separate applications to publish a newspaper namedAl Ettihad from two separate sources. The Governor is still considering both applications. In view of the persistent publication in Al Baath, until the withdrawal of its licence, despite repeated warnings, of misleading articles verging on the seditious, and since there is no evidence of a change of outlook by the Editor, the Governor of Aden has decided that it would be against the public interest to renew its licence.
