§ Mr. M. Clark Hutchisonasked the Postmaster-General the number of persons in the Edinburgh area who have cancelled their requests for telephones since the rise in charges in the summer; what percentage this was of total subscribers in the area; and how many have since withdrawn their cancellation.
§ Mr. K. ThompsonIn the area served by the Edinburgh automatic system, 132 applicants have cancelled their requests for telephones since the increased charges were announced. This represents less than 0.2 per cent. of the total subscribers in the area. We do not keep records of people who cancel their requests for telephone service and subsequently reapply, but we do know that during November there have been new applications for service from 195 people.
