§ Mr. GodberMy right hon. and learned Friend the Minister of Health and my right hon. Friend intend to make meat inspection universal as soon as possible. But there are practical difficulties to be overcome before all local authorities can achieve this—not least their shortage of inspectors. My right hon. Friend pro-142W poses, therefore, to invite the local authority associations and other interested organisations to discuss their difficulties with the Ministry in the light of the Government's intention to take the steps necessary to ensure that all meat is inspected at the slaughterhouse as soon as practicable.
