asked Her Majesty's Government if they are now in a position to state when they will begin preliminary consideration of the site, and approaches, of the Tay Road Bridge.

My right honourable friend the Secretary of State has agreed with the representatives of the local authorities concerned that there should be an examination of the technical, financial and economic questions involved in the construction of a Tay Road Bridge. This examination, which is now proceeding, includes questions of the site and approaches.
